The Big House – Game Day

IMG-0225The Big House is the biggest stadium in the USA.  It’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  It’s the University of Michigan Wolverine’s stadium.  Michigan Wolverines are a college football team.

A tailgate is when you have a party outside of the stadium before the game.  I went to a tailgate party.

Here are some of the best players on Michigan:  Chase Winovich, Devin Bush, Rashan Gary, Brandon Watson, Josh Metellus, Shea Patterson, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black, Khaleke Hudson, Karon Higdon, Chris Evans and Tru Wilson.

Michigan #19 vs. SMU Not Ranked in Top 25

Before the game they have a tradition to jump up and touch a banner and that also gives you a signal that the game was about to start.  When Michigan gets a touchdown they sing a chant.  Here are some words I’ll teach you that you might not know in the song:  (1) Victors Valiant – it means that you won in a fair way and did not cheat; (2) Conquering Hero – you are are hero, you won and conquered the other team and everybody is proud of you.

The game was starting and five minutes into the game Shea Patterson threw a bomb and Donavan Peoples-Jones got a touchdown.  There was a chant:  Whose Jones?  The PEOPLES-JONES!

The score was 14-7 Michigan but SMU was at the 20 yard line.  On second down Devin Bush got a big sack.  It was third down and Josh Mettles got an interception and runs it back for a touchdown.  It was 21-7 at half time.

In the third quarter, Tru got a big run and everybody yells TRUUUUUUUUUUU!  It was the end of the third quarter and Brandon Watson got a penalty.  SMU was at the 10 yard line and they fumble.

Then they did another tradition.  The college kids decide a motion – slow, regular, fast – and they go around waving their arms.  It’s called the wave.

Then the game was over and the score was 45-20 Michigan.

Author’s Note

I wanted to write this because it was my first football game in Ann Arbor.  It was also one of my favorite trips.  I went September 15, 2018.
